This automatically should send a sign to small businesses where to direct their marketing strategies. This is an amazing opportunity to take advantage of social media platforms that have the ability to reach vast amounts of potential customers. Reaching the Millennial demographic can be tricky, but not impossible.

Social media platforms are a Millennial's home base. Once you get ahold of how to properly show off your brand and business online then any platform will be a home field advantage. The first order of business is to convey a sense of trust and competence. If you can’t do this on your page then a Millennial will never trust you enough to do business with you.

Social media is often times considered your reviews. 84% of consumers research online and Millennials are no different. Keep up with your target market by being active on your page. Many businesses set up a social media page and then never use it. A big part of winning over a Millennial is staying relevant. Your page and its content have to pertain to what’s going on around us. Whether it be something that references the next big Netflix binge or uses a trending meme, Millennials like to laugh and be in the know. When they feel a brand effectively stays up to date with their interests then they become more open to engage and do business.

Provide the value. You’ve read that time and time again. But what does that mean when you’re talking about marketing to Millennials on social media? If you want a “like”, a mention, or a retweet you have to work for it. To increase the likelihood of engagement with your brand or content that inform, entertain, offer prizes or promotions. You can do this with photos, videos, articles, and even captions and tweets. For example, Post a picture of a product on Instagram with a coupon code in the description. You can even tell encourage them to tag a friend who loves the product doubling your reach. Look at other big brands and see how they do it for some more inspiration.

Businesses should start to move their marketing methods away from television and radio to online if they have not done so already. Social media marketing is not only the way to connect with America’s biggest generation but also how your business can connect to the full Global generation.
