The Secret To Get Influencers to Share Your Content
One of the most valuable strategies companies are using to connect with new audiences and build lasting relationships is influencer marketing. This strategy can be mutually beneficial when both parties are doing their fair share and are fully invested in the partnership. So, how do you get influencers to share your content?
Create Your Hit-List
This hit-list will be the set of bloggers in your niche that you want to build relationships with and whose networks you’d love to tap into.
Start by using Excel (or Google Drive) to create a spreadsheet with a list of influential blogs in your niche. For each blog, your aim is to find out about the blogger behind it, together with their contact details.
Frequent Their Favorite Sites
Another way to get shared by influencers in your field is to research which sites they visit frequently. Once you’ve done that, you can either guest post for one of the sites or pitch an article about your company to people who already write for it.
It’s easy to discover which sites the social influencers in your industry use to find articles they share. Use a tool like Topsy or Followerwonk. Next, order Twitter profiles by social authority or influence. Then view the sites where these influencers share. If you feel like a stalker, you’re doing it right.
Co-Create Content
Working together to design new content is a great driver for encouraging your influencers to share more. Collaboration helps you develop original content while building your relationships because you’re showing them you value their ideas and opinions. Remember that great content doesn’t always have to be a blog post. Work with your influencers to brainstorm new ideas and delivery channels. Include mediums such as videos, images and infographics you think your audience will appreciate.
Tell Them About It
This can be nerve-wrecking, but fear not. Here’s the breakdown of why you absolutely need to do this: The blogosphere and social media are crowded arenas. Even if an influencer is interested in your content, there’s no guarantee they’ll manage to find and read it on their own. It’s your job to make sure they do. If you featured them in your post, it’s totally acceptable to send them a quick email about it.
Otherwise, I definitely recommend tagging them when you share the post on Twitter. Just be sure that the post you’re tagging them in is genuinely relevant to them and their audience -- otherwise it will seem like you’re fishing for shares.
Share Their Content
Sharing your influencer’s content is an easy way to get them to notice you. Determine what platforms they’re most active on, and focus your efforts there. You can check up on their social pages or use a social-media management tool to create a list of your influencers. That will make it easy to view and retweet their content.
Add a personal touch to your sharing by creating a modified tweet that says something positive about the piece. You can also tag them in the tweet to increase the chances that they’ll see it.
